There are only 45 days left until the New Year.

It's that time of year again. silly season is almost here, just 15 days until Black Friday and 18 days until Cyber Monday.

If you start preparing your blog for Christmas in December, it may be too late. Christmas fever kicks in at the end of November and builds up to the big day.

Stores have been putting up Christmas trees and fake Santas for months...but what is the blogosphere doing to prepare?

The answer depends on who you talk to. After all, every blog and every audience is different. However, we can learn from the ideas of others and be inspired beyond our own.

Today and over the next few weeks, we're going to take a look at a few different blogs and see how their owners are preparing for the holidays.

  • blogger-consultant-speaker
  • digital editor
  • a non-commercial blog

Some blogs have been around for years, while others are only 12 months old. Some bloggers work full-time on their blogs, while others incorporate part-time blogging into their day job. We will learn.

  • which plans to optimize sales and promotions for the holiday season
  • how blogs are shaped around all the other things that happen at the end of the year
  • how they plan to stay in touch with customers, subscribers and fans over the Christmas holidays
  • how much work they will do during this time, how much time they will spend with family and friends and what they have done to make it possible.
  • what are they doing to start the new year and what will they focus on next?

I hope this series is an inspiration. To kick things off, I'll give you a behind-the-scenes look at dPS, the holiday merch blog.

Product blog

It's a busy time for DPS over the festive period. In addition to sticking to our publishing schedule, we've also started preparing for the annual 12 Days of Christmas. It's always a lot of fun... and a lot of work.

Holiday promotions, content and visitors

Each of the 12 days leading up to Christmas, we usually offer a special price on our products or a selected partner's products. So it takes a lot of work to get these offers and prepare the pages and promotions in advance.

This sale has been a huge success for the DPS audience, so we're continuing to improve it and promoting it again this year. Past experience has shown that sales should drive a lot of additional traffic to the blog, not just sales pages. We will also start to see an increase in visitors to some of the tutorials. Articles about portraits and family photos are always popular this time of year, as well as more specific topics like shooting fireworks.

While we promote the 12 Days of Christmas deals as great gift ideas, we also encourage loyal readers to treat themselves to a special gift.

Pause

I always love taking Christmas vacations with my family and friends, and preparation is key. I'm lucky enough to be able to share the preparations with my team, but we plan ahead and plan the content so everyone on the blog can enjoy the break.

With all the activities going on around Christmas I am very busy. Between Christmas and New Year's I do occasionally drop by, but I keep it to a minimum.

Wait impatiantly

The holidays mean I have to prepare to go back to work in 2023. This preparation has been going on for a long time. we already have our first new product ready to launch in january so that will take some of our parts. mark the beginning of the year.

I'll also start creating a full-year roadmap with my team in January, and of course the release schedule is an ongoing issue.

vacation plan

Understanding seasonality is an important part of maximizing product sales for those with an affiliate product or blog.

DPS products lend themselves well to holiday events, so we carefully plan our campaigns to maximize this potential. But even if your products aren't as important for Christmas, there will be other times of the year when demand is high.

For those of us who depend on revenue from product sales, it's important to have a plan to meet that demand.

At the end of the series, I'll give you a five-point checklist to help you prepare your product or any blog for the holiday season. But for now, I'm interested in hearing your stories. What do you have planned for your blog in the coming weeks? Let me know in the comments.
