The post Prepare Your Blog for the Holidays: A Step-by-Step Guide appeared first on ProBlogger.
Last week we did some short interviews with various bloggers to find out how they are preparing for the holidays.
We talked to the owners:
- A blog that sells products
- Blogger tutor teacher
- Digital editor
- Non-profit blog.
Don't worry if this series shows you how much you're preparing for the coming weeks. Today's post is a holiday prep list.
1. Have you decided when to take a break?
The first thing is to leave the calendar. Figure out the days (or weeks!) you don't want to blog and block out.
Now you know how much time you have.
2. Do you know what you want to achieve next?
Setting goals in advance has two benefits.
First, goals help you set priorities for the coming weeks. Second, they help you measure your efforts when you return to blogging in 2023. They will help you improve your business when the holiday season returns a year later.
Set some goals. It can be as simple as sticking to a regular posting and social media schedule or setting sales expectations and tracking conversion sources.
3. Do you know what you need to do to get there?
List the tasks necessary to accomplish your goals.
How much time do you need to write if you want to meet a twice-weekly posting schedule? How much is the conference? Do you include affiliate promotions in these posts? Which ones die and when? When is the best time to advertise these posts?
Make a list of all the things you need to do. Then schedule them. Think ahead and go into detail. Don't plan on organizing ten tweets during the holidays. Plan the time you will need to find quality content for those tweets.
Without getting your plans down to this level, you risk underestimating the time and energy needed to complete everything on your list.
While doing all this, think about how you can make your life as a blogger easier.

4. Have you set your priorities?
This is an extra step, but you can do it. When you set goals for your period, so to speak, you may already notice that your eyes are bigger than your stomach. If you can't do everything, look at your priorities and ask yourself if you can achieve them, you will be happy.
This will help you stay focused on the inevitable distractions and schedule changes in the coming weeks... and time flies!
Tip : Consider creating your own checklist for each task so you don't wake up in a panic because you need to find images to post affiliate links or code in the email you receive. Automatic delivery.
5. Are you all set to return in 2023?
Getting ready for the holidays isn't just about getting to January 1, 2023. It's also about getting to work as soon as you get back to your desk.
If the whole process of preparing for the holidays is a wake-up call for you, the first thing you should think about (and listen to my podcast) is how to make the most of your time.
Then, before the break, when all your priorities are clear, write a to-do list for Day 1 of 2023.
know how
- Check email, stats, and social listening to find out what you're missing when you're offline (assuming you're offline).
- Set goals for the new year (if you didn't during the holidays)
- Over the next 12 months, reconnect with other people you can help and support.
This is a basic checklist I use to make sure I'm on track during the holiday season and beyond.
